Otomycosis

This is a type of otitis externa caused by an acute fungal infection of the External Auditory Canal. Approximately 10% of cases of external otitis are relatedto fungal infection. Candida and Aspergillus are the most common fungal species in otomycosis.
Treatment of otomycosis requires the removal of fungal debris by syringing, suctioning or mopping and the application of appropriate topical antifungal medications in the form of drops or creams.
