Vocal Nodules

Vocal nodules are callus like growths on the vocal cords. They always occur in pairs in the middle third of the vocal cords. These develop due to improper use of the voice ie. when the voice is used too much or too loudly for extended periods of time.
The first line of treatment is vocal hygiene and appropriate speech therapy. In a small proportion where these persist after speech therapy, the nodules will need to be removed by microlaryngeal surgery.
