Vocal Polyp

This is characterised by a localised swelling of the vocal cord, often due to excessive misuse of voice. Such localised swellings are usually benign and called polyps.
The symptoms include change of voice, vocal fatigue and mild pain in the throat on excessive talking.
The treatment includes speech therapy, treatment for laryngopharyngeal reflux and may require microlaryngeal surgery which entails removal of these swelling under microscope.
